Excellent Module!

A nice addition would be to add document search capabilities.

Ideally, the search should return a list of documents whose metadata and content match the search criteria.

Allow for a document to be checked-in or checked out by a user, preventing the document being change by other users.

Selecting "Restrict Tree to One Folder" produces a tree with "Document Library" as the top folder, followed by the selected folder, like this:

Document Library
|__ Selected Folder
....|__ sub folder(s)

It would be better if "Selected Folder" was in the spot where "Document Library" sits now, because this would eliminate one level of indenting from the tree and help it fit better in narrower spaces. It would also be easier for my end users to understand, since the meaning of the "Document Library" folder isn't clear.

I agree that this is an excellent module. I would like to see the ability for a user to add files to a list of favourites.

create a short download link option to allow creating a file link in any text/html box or email. i.e. http://mysite/dowload.aspx?fileID=2 - we currently do this with a redirector, it works but it causes a lot of errors in the event log

first off, this module rocks. Finally a module that does what it advertises without any fuss!! thanks much.

One improvement idea is a functional one which would perhaps allow a 'doc manager' role to email documents directly to a folder, it wouldn't have to be fancy, just basic doc properties in a default profile.

Opportunity to select several documents at folder level in order to delete them at once.

I would like to be able to attach additional meta data fields to the file being uploaded. I need more than just a description field.

Allow multiple root folders per portal, at the module instance level you select what root to use for that module. This removes the need to next your folders (which may not be possible), i.e. have a UNC mapped to a remote FTP folder as one root and another mapped to local folder...

Although security can be set per folder, it would be fantastic if it could be set on a per file basis as well.

I'd like to have an expiration date on documents.

Before that expiration date the document has to be reviewed or a new version has to be uploaded (and a new expiration date will be set).

When the expiration date passes the document won't be visible for ordinary users (only for admin).

That way I'll know the visible documents are allways up to date.

I'd like to see the category feature improved. I'd like to be able to categorize folders rather than just documents.

Currently, folder names in the tree are displayed on one line. My clients sometimes create long folder names, and I have to choose between keeping the tree pane at a fixed width (with horizontal scrolling) or allowing the tree pane to expand, often to impractical widths.

I would prefer a third option: Allowing file names to wrap across multiple lines, either in conjunction with horizontal scrolling or in place of it. On my site, width is at a premium, but it's not a problem if the page gets taller.

I have a need to share common sets of documents among multiple client portals (same DNN Install). I don't think that role-based security would be possible, but my documents are all public.

Would like the ability to display more information in the download statistics like company name or any other DNN fields associated with user accounts, phone, address and etc.

I have a client that needs the ability to get a preview of the document (1st page only) as they browse the site. This may be as a roll-over or displayed when selected.

In the description field from the add/edit document possibilty to place image with upload from computer or choise from site (server)

Now you have to upload the image first ! or put a hyperlink from elsewhere... not friendly

Have Amazon S3 as a storage provider option to have enhanced perforance & scale for upload, search & retrieve functions.
